In the real world: he makes 75k, she only 50k

Her dufus-level salary is understandable, because she had given birth to not just one career-killer, but two of them.  Right now, she is one her way over to daycare, (which costs $250 weekly) because little Scotty sneezed - twice!  Funny - not - it's always her who has to take unplanned leave.

Anyway, a few years later, she is more than fed up - no surprise, all drudgery and stress...  She files for divorce, the house gets sold, the ex-spouses each get half - that is, after the bank gets the unpaid balance.  Each half, however, is taking a beating; not only with the in-freaking-sane housing costs, but each is burdened with around 15 to 20k in yet outstanding lawyer fees.

She had considered going for alimony, but it's not like her ex is a millionaire - not to mention, a $300 monthly check for, maybe,  three years, would likely get about eaten up by lawyer fees, and then there's what few personal hours she has on the books; those would end up consumed in the process. Anyway, she considers herself fortunate, since her ex's employer deducts the child support before sending him his pay - so the CS money, which goes to feed and clothe her kids, arrives on time to her account.

Looking back, he kicks himself for not having had his ex sign a prenuptial agreement.  But, really, the 3k document wouldn't have much mattered, since they'd both bought the house.  Oh wait, had there been a pre-nup, he'd of been able to keep his bass-boat - ya know, the one that's parked over at his buddy's house; the tub needs to be moved...eh, somewhere else, because the "couple of weeks" is nearing the third year.  His buddy said something about his township, but it's probably more about him either wanting to extend his deck, or put in a swimming pool - maybe both.

Some people have all the luck - grouse grouse.
