"Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:
Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth : yet they have not prevailed against me." Psalm: 129:1-2.
King David's youth is VERY important for people to not be kept in the dark about, because sadly enough, many children are flat out despised by their own parent/s/sibblings. This is not good, no way to grow up, no way to be in reasonably good shape to deal with finding a job, and keeping it. Oh, and by the way, King David did not grow up in a shack. His daddy, Jesse, had servants (1 Samuel 17:20 and 17:22).
And a few verses later you get the skinny on the needless verbal abuse!! (17:28) King David had to put up with when he was a youth.
Now, if only more preachers would quit playing patty-cakes with the wicked, and preach the Bible - the parts that most folks are way in the dark about, and really really need to know about.
