Back in the day - like half the bar was at that funeral.

Evidently, the departed bar-tender's family member/s who made the funeral arrangements was/were from a fundamentalist Christian background.  i don't know how i had known this, but specifically remember sitting beside my husband, and wanting to leave before the preacher showed up, and gave a sermon.  How did i know this?  Have no idea...well actually, do know how and why things turned out the way they did - and what prompted my husband to not want to leave just yet.

Well, motioning a let's-get-out-of-here request, once again...too late!  Preacher man showed up - and ugh! he had a big Bible in his satchel...wouldn't be surprised if it was a (gasp) King James, 1611.  Can tell ya straight, had my husband (that chauvinist;) not been there, i'd of quietly, politely been so out of there, even before the preacher had driven into the parking lot.

At that time (was about 11 years ago) so did not want to hear any preacher - especially one who actually believed the Word. Wanted absolutely no parts with people who believed in the God who sent people to an eternal hell, for rejecting His Son - ya know the ol' whadda meanie.

Well, here turns out.  The only thing that preacher said about either heaven or hell was that the departed man was in eternity, and knew where he was, forever.  No long sermon, and not even one "flee from the wrath to come" Scriptures.

Still, was convicting enough, and really more than i had cared to hear at the time.
