Prior to the covid psy-ops having successfully killed workplace fellowship, last year we had a retirement party,

and one of the guests - having been retired for about two years - sure didn't look the same.  Jane, who while working as a supervisor, had made an effort to stay away from the donuts and cookies people had brought to the office - whether or not she had been sometimes successful, who knows; and does it really matter?  She cared about the job and the people, that's what matters.

Well, Jane shows up.  Wow!  She didn't look the same.  What happened was, during her 1st year as a retiree, she lost 50 pounds.  The reason for that wasn't lack of funds - Jane was a planner and a saver, lived a quiet life.

i can only guess - me not being a supervisor - that being a boss is stressful enough for a man, but can be doubly so for a woman.  Being retired, i guess, allows Jane to fix nutritious and enjoyable meals, and not having to rush eating them.
